Under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist, you will support the service in delivering therapeutic interventions and assisting in the planning for individual and group therapeutic interventions, with a focus on independent living skills, community living skills, self-care and leisure. You will build one-to-one rapports with service users to encourage participation in activities and empower recovery. 

As an Occupational Therapist Assistant, you will contribute to the assessment, monitoring, evaluation, and modification of structured interventions in order to measure progression and ensure effectiveness. 

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will be supported regionally and will have access to a variety of training and online courses to support your career development and growth. 

As an Occupational Therapist Assistant you will be:

Assisting Occupational Therapists, Nurses and other MDT staff in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of individual care plans.
Supporting service users to achieve their goals and access appropriate services.
Maintaining adequate records, entering details in the service user healthcare records.
Assisting in writing and updating Risk Assessments for activity and risk of environment for all relevant interventions
Working collaboratively with the Multi-Disciplinary Team members on patient interventions
Contributing to the creation of patient and ward timetables, ensuring that patients have access to therapeutic interventions to meet their recovery needs and are provided with a range of activities to promote healthier lifestyles and skill development
Providing effective and accurate clinical entries and outcome of activities using an electronic patient database system
Developing patients’ programmes as informed by individual patient’s needs
Supporting patients in developing vocational skills using activity and engagement
Supporting patents within community integration, running community based interventions using public transport and locally-based resources
Working individually with patients that lack motivation, supporting them to engage
Liaising with the MDT to enhance staff/client working relationships
Participating in monthly clinical supervision with the Occupational Therapist and the organisation's system of appraisal
Participating in team building and other staff support measures in order to help the team develop
Participating in and actively supporting the hospital's quality improvement programme
Being conversant and follow corporate, hospital and local policies and procedure
Complying with the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, and related legislation
Engaging in Continual Professional Development (CPD) opportunities when available
Develop links with other supportive external agencies as well as facilitate interventions 

To be successful in this role, you will have:
GCSE/O-Levels (A-C) or a relevant NVQ2. 
Experience in a similar environment & Mental Health
Verbal and written communication skills

You will be working at the Gateway Recovery Centre, a state-of-the-art facility, providing care for men and women with complex mental health requirements to reduce risk behaviours associated with mental health conditions so that people in your care can ultimately live successful and fulfilling lives within the community. 

The service is split into four distinct areas: 
Male Service for the challenging and complex needs of adults with Autism spectrum condition
Assessment and rehabilitation for women with complex mental health needs and personality difficulties 
Specialist inpatient service for older men with complex mental health and physical health needs. 
Low secure care setting for men with a mental illness with or without personality disorder/mild learning disabilities 
You will be working alongside the team with the aim to improve the mental health and wellbeing of service users, to help them develop and maintain healthy relationships with others.
