Are you an experienced Speech and Language Therapist looking for a rewarding part‑time role where your advanced expertise truly makes a difference? Join Adderley Green as a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist, managing a meaningful and complex caseload within a supportive multidisciplinary team.
In this part‑time role, you will take full personal, professional and legal responsibility for your own highly specialist caseload, working independently while accessing supervision and support when required. You will carry out detailed communication and swallowing assessments using a range of formal and informal tools, including perceptual analysis and in‑depth language assessment, to support accurate clinical decision‑making and contribute to differential diagnosis and prognosis.
You will work closely with residents, families and carers, providing clear and compassionate explanations of complex communication, voice and swallowing needs. You will contribute actively to multidisciplinary team working, attending relevant clinical and management meetings within your agreed working pattern and providing highly specialist Speech and Language Therapy input to care planning.
You will play a key role in managing swallowing programmes, including those involving PEG feeding, working collaboratively with nursing teams, kitchen staff and visiting dietitians to ensure safe swallowing practice and appropriate nutritional intake. You will also assess the need for communication aids and support residents and carers in their safe and effective use.
The role includes leading communication‑focused therapeutic groups (scheduled within your part‑time hours), training therapy assistants and carers, and supporting colleagues in delivering individual communication and swallowing programmes. You will work alongside Psychology colleagues on complex capacity issues and use strong motivational, negotiation and problem‑solving skills to support positive outcomes.
This role is advertised as part-time, but we'd be happy to consider full-time hours for the right candidate.
